We often talk about the vision of
"reality". I have often heard people tell me that they had such vision,
however it must be fully understood and known to all that the vision of
"reality" is not possible as long as one remains at the level of ordinary
everyday experience. To have a vision of "Reality" the mind must
experience a total transformation of itself. The ordinary consciousness must
transcend the dimension of ordinary cognition where the world is experienced as consisting
of solid.
In the kind of transformation, that we are talking, is
about a certain type and kind of awareness that must arise in the mind. In this kind
of awareness the world appears and is revealed in a totally different light. Hence
what we are aiming at is a Mystical vision of reality, compared to vain intellectual
approach. In a nut shell and integral metaphysical world view is possible only
on the basis of unique form of subject-object relationship.
The Yoga "Sutras" talk about 3 types of
cognition: Hearing / Reading, Coming from an authority and the third one is called
Direct Perception. In terms of perfect understanding and knowledge the last method
of cognition is the most preferable one. The highest degree of knowledge is always
achieved when the knower, the human subject becomes completely unified and identified with
the object so much so that there remains no differentiation or distinction between the
two. As long as there is the slightest remaining distinction between the two, that
is both separate and different, Perfect cognition is not realized.
Vision of Reality cannot be obtained through rational
reasoning, but through a peculiar kind of intuition. "The unification of the
knower and the known". Knowing "Reality" not from outside as an
object of knowledge, but from inside, by one becoming or rather being "Reality",
that is man's self realization. |
