FROM THE DESK OF PROF. MOIZ HUSSAIN Ph.D.

JUNE 2000

In the ancient times disciples were first exposed to "Conditioning" much before the teacher taught any thing else.   This concept of "Conditioning" is actually very basic and very important.   A musician before performing for the main act goes through rehearsal.  This prepares a person for the actual real performance.  Before an examination one does some preparations.  Conditioning is about getting ready, being prepared physically, emotionally and mentally for any task that lies ahead.

To condition oneself, solitude, quietude and some degree of isolation is required.  In this way we prepare ourselves fully prior to the task.  Lets say if one wants to mobilize positively in life in the form of faith and acceptance and desire to carry on life in a balanced manner one has to take oneself away; for periods of time.   Like a senior executive who would tell his secretary at a particular time during office hours.  "No calls, no visitors".  "Its time for me to go and meet myself".

Good results and productivity depends largely on much we concentrate on our work, if my body aches, or my mind is on something else or I am emotionally upset over something, then I don't feel like working.  I might make a lot of attempt and put my best efforts but since I am not "into" it I cannot do justice to it.  Therefore, the right kind of conditioning takes care of the physical, mental and emotions sectors of our lives.  With the right conditioning we can know what to do with our lives.  How to work, how to earn money, how to live with people around us, how to act in challenging and difficult situations, in pleasant situations and thereby we position ourselves to be open to intuitive unfoldment of a spiritual dimension.
